Ford Explorer: which body do you have?
Compare your car with the pictures. The year you bought it is only a hint, because bodies changed at different times in different regions.
Explorer (2018–2019, fifth generation)
2018 – 2019
- Last years of the fifth-generation Explorer (rear-wheel look, boxy rear glass) before the 2020 redesign
- One pattern set fits Base, XLT, Limited, Platinum and Sport
- Front bumper differs by parking sensors (four front sensors on most trims): choose the sensor option
- Fog lamps are standard on upper trims; choose the fog option for the headlamp kit
- Hood kit is a smaller mini kit than on most cars
Explorer (2020–2024, sixth generation)
2020 – 2024
- Sixth-generation Explorer on the rear-drive platform: longer hood, slim headlamps, three-bar wide grille
- Core pattern set fits Base, XLT, Limited, King Ranch and Platinum
- ST has its own front and rear bumpers; ST-Line has its own rear bumper; Timberline has its own front bumper
- Choose the sunroof option for the roof and the parking-sensor option for the front bumper
- Cars sold without a front licence plate need the no-plate bumper cut-out (Canada: plate bracket cut-out)
Explorer (2025+, refreshed)
2025 onwards
- 2025 refresh: new front end with a lamp bar, redesigned grille and bumper, new rear lamps and bumper
- Core pattern set fits ST and ST-Line
- Active has its own front bumper, grille and rear bumper; Tremor has its own front bumper, headlamps and rear bumper; Platinum has its own rear bumper
- Grille kits ask whether the front camera cut-out is needed; choose the sunroof option for the roof
- Fog lamps are standard on some trims and blank on others: choose the fog option

Ford Explorer PPF kits by body
We cut DIY pre-cut paint protection film for 3 Ford Explorer bodies. A new body starts wherever the panels change shape, such as a facelift with a new bumper or lights, so a kit always matches the car it was cut for.
