BMW 3 Series: which body do you have?
Compare your car with the pictures. The year you bought it is only a hint, because bodies changed at different times in different regions.
3 Series (2019–2022, G20)
2019 – 2022
- Kidney grilles joined in the middle by a body-colour bridge
- Headlights with a notch in the lower edge; LED fog lamps on most cars
- M Sport has larger lower intakes and its own side skirts; M340i adds mesh grille inserts
- M3 (G80) is a different wide body with a huge vertical grille (own kit)
- Plug-in hybrid versions have a charging flap in the front left fender: choose the charging-door option on hood / fender kits
- M340i has a mesh kidney grille insert (M Sport cars have bars): choose the grille type on grille kits
- Not covered: BMW M3 G80 (wide body, listed separately)
3 Series (2023+, G20 LCI)
2023 onwards
- Slimmer headlights without the lower notch; fog lamps deleted
- Flatter kidney grille with a simpler surround
- Reshaped front and rear bumpers on all trims
- M Sport keeps the larger lower intakes and side skirts
- Plug-in hybrid versions have a charging flap in the front left fender: choose the charging-door option on hood / fender kits
- M340i gained M-specific aerodynamic mirror caps with the LCI (pre-LCI M340i has the conventional caps): choose the mirror-cap option on hood / fender / mirror kits
- M340i has a mesh kidney grille insert: choose the grille type on grille kits
- Not covered: BMW M3 G80 (wide body, listed separately)
